Teflon® Extreme by Parà

Branded Parà Tempotest® fabrics benefit from a finishing process developed in partnership with Teflon®. Teflon® Extreme By Parà is a nanometric particle surface treatment that forms a molecular barrier around each fiber, providing double-action protection and a self-cleaning system that repels water and oil-based stains.

During the production process, the fabric is introduced into the Teflon® Extreme finishing bath creating a strong bond with the fiber and forming an invisible barrier. The highly-repellent component contained in the barrier helps water and rain to wash away dirt, eliminating marks and preserving the fabric’s beauty and performance over time.

Hi-Clean Finishing

All Tempotest® fabrics are treated with a special type of finishing, called Hi-Clean, that creates an impenetrable barrier without compromising the fabric's breathability. The Hi-Clean finishing makes Tempotest fabrics repellent to water, grease, and oil as well as protects against rotting and the formation of mold and fungus. Hi-Clean makes the fabric self-cleaning, allowing dirt as well as fine dust and pollution to wash away with water or rain.

Confidence in Textiles

This has been the motto of the independent test institutes of the International Oeko-Tex Association since 1992. Products of all types that are tested for harmful substances and found to pose no risk whatsoever to health are given the Oeko-TexStandard 100 certificate of approval. Tempotest fabrics continually receive this designation.

Tempotest Marine® and Awning Fabric Maintenance

Air pollution, smog and other kinds of particles can easily be removed from Tempotest fabrics by brushing the fabric surface with a soft brush using a solution of water and soap (two ounces of mild soap in a gallon of water no hotter than 100°F). Avoid the use of detergents; use only mild soap like Woolite or Ivory soap. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap. Allow the fabric to dry completely in the open air. Avoid wrinkling or folding the fabric.

If substances like tree resin or similar organic dirt that can support mold growth are deposited on the fabric, it is advisable to treat the fabric by gently rubbing the affected area with a solution of bleach diluted in water. Avoid sewing threads and trims that may not be bleach resistant.

Do not iron Tempotest fabrics with steam, and do not dry by using electrical devices.

Store fabric in a dry and ventilated environment during the winter season.

Over time, a fabric’s water repellency will naturally diminish. To compensate for this, we advise periodically using 303 protectant or similar post-cure spray, available at most marine, awning shops, and casual furniture retailers.

Tempotest Home® Maintenance

Tempotest Home® fabrics can be machine washed (up to 85°F) without losing their water- and stain-resistant properties, thanks to the use of Teflon® Extreme fabric protector. Wash using a mild laundry soap like Woolite, Ivory soap, or similar non-detergent based product.

Thanks to its extraordinary resistance to fading, the Tempotest Home® product line can also be washed with sodium hypochlorite (household chlorine bleach with a content of less than 5 percent sodium hypochlorite). This treatment is effective for removing stains such as coffee, wine, beer, juice, etc. It will not affect the fabric’s color fastness or stain and water resistance, if carried out according to the methods described below.

  • If hand washing, use 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water as a pre-wash before proceeding with normal washing with a gentle soap (Woolite or Ivory soap). Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove the soap completely. Allow the fabric to dry in the shade.

  • Ratio of bleach to water should always remain 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water.

  • Do not use any kind of non-chlorine bleach as it can damage the appearance and characteristics of the fabric.

  • Water temperature should not exceed 85°F.

  • Avoid sewing threads and trims, unless you have confirmed they are bleach resistant.

  • Avoid using detergents as they can, over time, strip away the water- and stain-resistant finish.

  • If you notice a decrease in water repellency over time, the fabric can be sprayed with a 303 protectant or similar post-cure spray, which can be found at most marine stores, awning shops, and casual furniture retailers.
